Ardo-Khadra Hersi is a dedicated youth development professional and community leader with more than a decade of experience empowering young people and strengthening families across King County. Guided by the spirit of Ubuntu—I am because we are—she is passionate about creating safe, culturally responsive spaces where youth can heal, grow, and discover their potential.
Throughout her career, Ardo has served in leadership roles with several community-based initiatives in King County. Her expertise includes program management, youth mentorship, restorative practices, community engagement, curriculum development, grant writing, and partnership building.
Ardo has led youth programs serving dozens of young people and families, expanded culturally responsive services, and connected communities to critical resources.
Her experience includes mentoring youth inside the King County Children and Family Justice Center, supporting immigrant and refugee families, coordinating educational and leadership programs, and advancing equity-centered initiatives throughout Washington State.
As a bilingual English and Somali speaker, Ardo builds meaningful relationships across cultures and believes every young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. Her work is rooted in compassion, restorative justice, and the belief that lasting change happens when communities invest in their own strengths.
